This is a medical problem with an etiology which is not fully known. It is generally treated with anti inflammatory drugs and often with antibiotics. Nonichai Crohns and Colitis formula deals with the situation naturally. It aids in healing the inner lining of the stomach or colon and healing the fissures or ulcers that form. It must be taken together with
Nonichai Clear Toxins and
Nonichai Spleen Toner since the spleen is involved in this problem according to Chinese medicine. Also it is preferable for the person to take
Nonichai Psychosomatic illnesses, not because this is a psychosomatic illness but because it helps to relax the mind and reduce any aspect of stress contributing to the problem. The person must take 30 mg of zinc gluconate simultaneously with the herbs. Length of treatment usually is six months. However, a great percentage of people feel much better and are symptom free well before six months. One has to evaluate their condition based on many factors such as how long this problem has been there, whether they are bleeding or not, and if there is infection, it is advisable to take a course of antibiotics to initially control the infection, as Nonichai Crohns and Colitis is not an antibiotic.
If there is diarrhea with the crohns or colitis, one should also incorporate
Nonichai Anti Diarrhea formulaIf bleeding is present, one should use the two formulas of Nonichai called
Improve Production of Vitamin K, which helps increase internal production of vitamin K in the large intestine, and
Nonichai Control Bleeding formula. If one has anemia, it is advisable to also take
Nonichai Combat Anemia. As for dietary recommendations, there is much confusion in the advice given to people about dietary fibre and ulcerative colitis or crohns. To understand this properly it is important to appreciate there are two distinct types of fibre. One - soluble fiber should be encouraged when suffering from colitis or crohns - the other - insoluble fiber tends to inflame colitis or crohns and should be avoided.
Insoluble fiber is generally bad for ulcerative colitis/IBD sufferers. This is the type of fibre that most people would associate with a high fiber diet. Examples of this type of fiber include:
- Wheat bran/wholemeal bread/bran flakes etc.
- Cabbage
- Broccoli
- Sweet corn
- Skins of vegetables such as apples and grapes
This type of fiber passes through the whole of the digestive tract without being digested - and hence has a tendency to adhere to the wall of the colon when it is inflamed. This irritates the colon - and hence will aggravate any colitis or IBD condition.
Soluble fiber is very helpful for colitis and Crohns and differs from insoluble fiber in that it is broken down/digested in the large intestine/colon. This produces a soft stool and good motions - but does not produce the type of particles that adhere to the bowel wall and cause inflammation. Good examples of soluble fiber include:
- The body of fruits - e.g. peeled apples, peeled pears
- Peeled Vegetables - e.g. peeled potatoes and carrots
- Oat bran - e.g. porridge
- White rice
There are a number of foods which are best avoided during a flare up of Ulcerative Colitis or Crohns - especially when they are active (i.e. blood or mucous in the stools). These are mainly foods that either include a high amount of insoluble fiber - or very high amounts of dairy fats:
- Cabbage/sprouts
- Cauliflower
- Broccoli
- Sweet Corn
- Mushrooms
- High Bran fibre items - such as wholemeal bread, and high fibre cereal
- Raw onions
- Tomatoes - especially the seeds
- Soya Protein (TVP)
- Onions - Especially raw onions
- Cheese/cream (tends to cause excess acid/irritation in the gut) Some dairy is okay but one has to determine which dairy products do not cause problems and also not to over eat dairy. Some people find dairy is best avoided in general.
- Fried foods
- Breaded foods such as schnitzel, fried fish etc.
- Some people find potatoes are not good for their stomach condition but if they do eat potatoes, make sure they are peeled and cooked well. Popcorn
- Rough , hard foods that could irritate the lining of the colon etc. as the food passes through
All foods have to be soft, well cooked, and easily digestible.
There are some people that find it very difficult to be on a strict diet, prepare the foods properly and often they have to go eat out with clients in restaurants etc. For such people taking
Nonichai Reduce Incompatibility of foods to offset negative effects of food which would normally aggravate their condition. This would be helpful when they are not able to follow their diet strictly.
